Parkinson Association of Northern California
2017 Parkinson's Walk
The Sacramento Embarcadero Lions Club hosted a 5K (or less) Walk to "Cancel Out Parkinson’s" on April 1, 2017 at Rusch Park in Citrus Heights to honor their long time member, Robert G. Smith.
Mr. Smith, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease several years ago, has served the Lions community in many capacities. He had a long and distinguished career with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and is the recipient of three Unit Citations and has been active in numerous professional and community law enforcement organizations.
The first of many annual Walks was a huge success! Over 450 people attended the event and at least $35,000 was raised. All net proceeds will be donated to PANC to help fund its programs and services. The event started at 10:00 a.m. and included a health fair, entertainment, lunch and fun for all!
Thank you Lion's Club for your good work and generosity! Please watch for next year's event and spread the word.
